On arrival with the casualty vessel the sea conditions were challenging in the fresh easterly winds. It was decided that establishing a tow at that time into the Strangford Narrows was unsafe and a lifeboat crew member was put on board the yacht to assist in sailing the vessel towards Ardglass.

Due to the on-shore sea conditions the helm of the Portaferry Lifeboat requested the assistance of Newcastle all-weather lifeboat when entering the harbour at Ardglass with the casualty vessel under tow.
